Rural Poor Initiative for Development Uganda (RUPID-Uganda)
RUPID-Uganda was hatched as a Non-governmental Organisation to be an Umbrella for various developmental projects that have been initiated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Emmanuel Kakaaga Byaruhanga for the rural people in Rwesigire and Kemihoko villages in Nganiko Parish. Some of the projects actually serve people beyond the two mentioned villages. The aim is to extend much needed services to other areas beyond Nganiko, Nyabbani sub-County, Kitagwenda District in Uganda. These projects include and not limited to Water, Hygiene and Sanitation, Medical Services, Education for needy children.

Before the initiation of these projects, it was very difficult for most of the rural people to access clean water, medical services and quality education. The area is characterised by lack of good and accessible roads, lack of health/medical centres/clinics, quality primary and secondary schools. In order to access services, one would have to walk kilometres or miles. Patients would walk kilometres to reach a health/medical centre and oftentimes these distant health.medical centres would be lacking enough drugs and other services. Children would have to get up very early in the morning to first fetch water and firewood t leave at home and ten walk or run to school covering kilometres/miles. This situation would affect both adults and children very bad. Lack of clean water meant that people would depend on dirty stagnant ponds or running streams and this would cause untold sicknesses and eventually deaths.
